JAMMU, Apr 17: Accusing the BJP of committing multifarious acts of treachery in quick succession after its ascendance to power and setting entire Jammu region on fire during its three year rule, a strong contingent of Panther activists led by Mr. Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP, Mr. Balwant Singh State President JKNPP and Mr. Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers staged a vociferous protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground in Jammu today. The agitated protestors torched the effigy of central and state govts amid raising anti-BJP slogans and demanded Statehood for Jammu Pradesh to get rid of the socio-political turmoil, discrimination and subjugation doled out by the Kashmir centric leadership.
Accusing the unholy BJP-PDP coalition of its failure to order CBI probe in conducting fair and transparent investigation in the child homicide case of Rasana, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that this was the collective demand of the people which was ignored and disregarded by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti with full support of BJP. He regretted that the Saffron party which had an equal share in the government not merely failed to convince her but rather surrendered to her dictates in the most shocking manner. "The Kashmir centric Mehbooba not only turned down the appeal of the BJP Ministers to conduct a CBI investigation but successfully forced the Saffron partner to sack its two Ministers.
She threatened to break the alliance in case the BJP failed to do so and at the end of the day it shamefully succumbed to her political designs, bringing disgrace to the Dogra mandate. The episode had sent a strong signal across that sentiment of Jammu region hardly mattered for the Kashmir centric and Delhi based rulers. The way the vested interests had maligned the image of Jammu region and vilified Dogras in the entire Rasana episode, it had been established once again that the aspirations of the people would continue to be disregarded between the politics of Kashmir and New Delhi for power games", Harsh rued.
Describing statehood for Jammu as the ultimate solution for the ills afflicting Jammu region, Mr. Singh said that people of Jammu had to take to roads each time even for availing their basic rights and constitutional guarantees. He said that nothing fell in Jammu's share in normal course. The people had to fight it out in the streets whether it was AIIMS, or central University or smart city or even Colleges and Hospitals, Tourism or power related issues, lamented Harsh. He said that history bore witness to the unending saga of hostile discrimination against Jammu region with no signs of its regression in the future.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Yashpaul Kundal, Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Partap Singh, Sham Gorkha, Khajoor Singh, Rajeshwar Singh Sambyal, K.K Sharma, Mohinder Singh, Shankaar Singh Sanju, Rampaul Sharma, Rashpaul Singh, Udhayveer, Shankar Chib, Partap Singh, Pawandeep Singh, Rattan Singh, Subash Charak, Ajay Sharma, Gurjeet Singh, Shaitan Singh besides others.
