Leh observing Traffic week from April 23

DC for creating mass awareness about Road Safety Rules

LEH, Apr 19: District administration Leh is going to observe Traffic Week from April 23 with a view to promote safe driving by educating the people about road safety rules.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa chaired a joint meeting of civil, police and Motor Vehicle Depart ment officers and representatives of transporter unions, car dealers, Nehru Yuva Kendra and other stakeholders. It was given out in the meeting that the traffic week will commence from April 23 during which the administration will organize series of activities to educate and create mass awareness about the road safety rules.
The DC asked MVD to organise seminars, painting and debate competitions by involving college and school students across the district.
She asked the authorities of MVD and Police Department to prepare banners and pamphlets and also arrange car and cycle rallies during traffic week across the district.
The meeting also decided to organise radio talk shows and street plays (nukkad shows) in prominent places of Leh town by involving local artists, NCC, NSS and NYK to spread awareness about the traffic rules and safe driving. The DC asked the traffic department to ensure congestion free traffic movement adding that the district administration is committed to facilitate people of the district with all transport facilities so that they do not face any inconvenience.
