Northern Command children summer adventure camp concludes

Udhampur, Jun 24: The spirit of adventure and panache for the outdoor life and activities have been related with the Armed Forces since times immemorial.
Keeping to the rich traditions of an unrelenting and die hard adventure spirit, Northern Command Children Summer Adventure Camp 2018 was conducted based on different age groups of 11-14 yrs and 15-18 years from 04-09 June 2018 and 18-23 June 2018.
The camp was conducted at Bakloh Cantonment, Himachal Pradesh under the watchful eye of the Dalhousie Brigade.
The camp was aimed at inculcating adventure, team spirit, self reliance and honing survival and social skills of the children.
The participation sported 121 children from Army schools and wards of Armed Forces personnel of Northern Command.
During the span of the conduct, the camp included a plethora of activities ranging from adventure activities such as rock climbing, trekking, honing of survival skills to lifestyle activities such as yoga, cultural events and honing of social skills and etiquettes.
The culmination of the camp today witnessed an impressive closing ceremony presided over by Major General VS Ranade, General Officer Commanding , Dah Division.
The closing ceremony included enthusiastic cultural performances by the campers and felicitations to the children for the stellar performers in various events.
During interaction with the children, Major General VS Ranade put forth that such events bring to fore the love for outdoor life and adventure activities also are instrumental towards the overall development of children into being worthy citizens of the country.
With fond memories and strengthened bonds of friendship, the children bid farewell to their fellow campers and returned to their homes metamorphosed into confident and responsible citizens of the country.
