Jammu, Jul 20: An intense theme and highly matured acting by versatile Natrang actors marked the 3rd day of ongoing Natrang's 3rd Theatre festival of the year 2018 which featured Dr. Shankar Shesh's famous Hindi play 'Fandi' under the direction of Mipham Otsal. Natrang's senior most actors Anil Tickoo and Neeraj Kant kept the audience spellbound with their professional hold over the art of acting. They were supported by yet another versatile actor of Natrang, Rahul Singh. The performance by three actors was striking; the way it brought forth various dimensions of the society was commendable.
Earlier welcoming the august gathering, Natrang Director BalwantThakur that in connection with the celebrations of 35 years of Natrang, the organisation is holding a 4 play Theatre Festival every month. Balwant Thakur further informed that Natrang is perhaps the only organisation of the country which is offering theatre shows almost every alternative day. Today's play 'Fandi' was based on the story of a criminal who is trying to save himself raising questions on the system. The play portrays the pathetic feelings of a son who has to 'mercy kill' his father. Unable to bear the torture, which his father is suffering for being a poor cancer patient, Fandi is forced to do such an act. Poverty stricken Fandi could no longer provide required medical aid and having exhausted all the resources, he has no option, other than to yield to his father's pleadings for giving him a respectable death.
Now begins the actual conflict when Fandi has to encounter the charges of having murdered his father. Advocate Bhagat Ram, professionally a vanquished man, is nominated by Gover nment to plead Fandi's case. The trial for the case unfolds a situation in which the tarnished acting of the son appears to be a compulsive act to bring an end to the misery of a cancer patient wriggling in pain. While the charges of patricide are being framed against Fandi, his advocate assures him that the judgment will go in his favour if the Judges go into the depth of the case and understand the circumstances, which led to the killing. While bringing forth the inner turmoil, which Fandi faces after the killing and having faced the court, Dr. Shankar Shesh stirs the emotions of the audience and leaves it to them to give their verdict.
The lights of the play were operated by Shivam Singh whereas Brijesh Avtar Sharma rendered the music of the play. The presentations were done by Sumeet Sharma and the hall management was looked after by Kayannat Gupta, Sonalika Jamwal, Sheetal Jadhan, Bhisham Gupta, Manoj Kumar Lalotra, Ajay Kumar Lalotra, Raheel Sharma and Mohit Kaul. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen.
Tomorrow on the concluding day of the festival, Shakespeare's globally acclaimed play 'A Midnight Summer's Dream' will be presented under the direction of Aarushi Thakur Rana at Abhinav Theatre at 6 pm.
