DB directs Health Secy to file affidavit regarding action taken

JAMMU, Sept 15: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Smile Social Youth Club through its President Matloob Saleem Qureshi raising an important issue of organ transplant, Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta observed that Pursuant to order dated 26.02.2018, the State was required to put in place an action plan so that provisions of the J&K Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1997 and the rules framed there under are acted upon at the earliest. Even then the aforementioned order was passed as far as back in February, 2018, nothing is forthcoming from the official quarter.Division Bench directed Com missioner/ Secretary to Government, Health and Medical Education Department file an affidavit as regards action taken in this regard. DB further directed that Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Health and Medical Education Department may convene a meeting or all stakeholders including the Director, Health Servic es, Jammu, Director Health Services, Srina gar, Principal, Govern ment Medical College, Jammu, Principal, Government Medical College. Srinagar, and the Director SKIMS, Srinagar in that regard. JNF
