Army conducts 'join Indian Army' drive at Poonch

JAMMU, Oct 17: With an aim to motivate youth of Poonch District to seek a career in Armed Forces, Army conducted an awareness drive on "How to Join Armed Forces" at Youth Centre, Chhatral in Poonch District. The aim of the drive was to spread awareness amongst the local youth regarding the career opportunities offered by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Participants were informed about the requirements for selection in defense services like education qualification, physical standards to include height, weight, chest measurement, general health etc. The selection process to include Physical Fitness Test, Medical Examination and Common Entrance Exams for both Officers and soldiers was also explained in detail. In order to motivate the youth the pay structure and facilities extended to a soldier and his family members were also emphasised upon. Participants were given leaflets containing information of various recruitment rallies being conducted by different recruitment agencies in the region in the near future.
The awareness lecture was well received by the youth and the locals who lauded the efforts of the Army. They exhorted for more such awareness lectures and drives to motivate the youth of the region.
