Jammu, Oct 17: The BJP government at the centre and state have adopted Anti-Kissan Policies and the miseries of the common Kissan have increased many folds, said Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, former Minister and Senior leader National Conference while on his tour to the villages to take stock of the losses occurred to the standing paddy crops and vegetable crops due to hailstorm on 11.10.2018 in Tehsil Mandal, in Sum, Makwal, Haripur, Suanjana, Alora, Prambali, Bakshi de Kothey, Camp, Murarpur, Tikoo Tera, Karwal, Malke Chak, Haripur, Bhure Chak, Sardare Chak, Laxman Pura, Tope, Jawalapur, Kullian, Kullian Manhasa. The Kissans are feeling depressed and helpless as there is no body to listen to kissans. On his tour Kissans told that no body was ready from Government side to assess their losses, even they were forced to pay to the revenue people for getting their losses assessed and registered. The government has make mockery of the crop Insurance scheme. The kissans are helpless and their problems and hardships are increasing day by day. By now the government should have paid compensation for the damaged crops but it is very sad till date even full assessment of the crop losses have not been made. The kissans are being pushed towards wall as in other parts of the country, Kissans are committing suicide due to the anti-kissan policies of the BJP governments at the state and the centre.
Kissans delegation met Mr Sadhotra and told their miserable conditions due to crop losses to them. They told that they cannot afford to get their fields cleared of the damaged crops as it involves too much labour. They said if govt does not want to give us compensation, govt should get our fields cleared for next crop. They said they are feeling so helpless as there is no government to listen their miseries. On one side the farming is becoming costlier day by day losses due to hailstorm has broken the backbone of the common kissans. The return of the crops is very meager. Rise in corruption in Tehsil Mandal has further increased the hardships of the Kissans.
After the tour, Mr Sadhtora expressed serious concern over the insensitive attitude of govt towards kissans and has demanded Rs. Ten thousand compensation per Kanal to all the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to hailstorm. Kissan Credit Card should not be the criteria for giving compensation to the farmers. All the kissans should be given compensation irrespective of they have Kissan Credit cards or not as about 50% kissans have not made Kissan Credit Cards. Crop insurance policy needs to be relooked to make it pro kissan policy.
And revenue people in Mandal needs to be pulled to save kissans from further harassment.
The kissans are ready to forgo compensation of their crop losses if government clear their agriculture fields for next new crop as too much money is required to get the crop damaged fields cleared. 100% loss have been done to crops by grain shedding and fallen of standing crops due to hailstorm.
