Court awards lifer to killer of wife and other

JAMMU, Oct 20: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Mohan Singh Parihar today awarded life-imprisonment to Kuldeep Raj who murder his wife and Ramesh Lal.
According to the police case that on 26th September 2005, the informant namely Suresh Kumar S/o Hans Raj R/o Rah Salyote Tehsil Akhnoor lodged an oral report at Police Post Chowki Chowra to the effect that Kuldeep Raj S/o Gian Chand was suspecting the illicit relations of his wife namely Chanchalo Devi with Ramesh Lal and due to said reason Kuldeep Raj was having strained relations with his wife and he was having enmity with Ramesh Lal. On the said date at 9.30 AM, Kuldeep Raj due to said enmity and with intention to commit murder, had assaulted his wife Chanchalo Devi in his own house, when she was cooking meal in the courtyard of the house and murdered her by cutting neck with a sharp edged weapon Parthi. He also assaulted Ramesh Lal with same weapon of offence Parthi near his house and seriously injured him and on hue and cry, his mother Mst.Vidya Devi, Savitri Devi W/o Darshan Lal, Preeto Devi W/o Late Chatru Ram R/o Rah Salyote came on the spot to rescue injured and Kuldeep Raj also assaulted them and seriously injured them. The dead body of the deceased Chanchalo Devi is lying in a pool of blood on the spot and Kuldeep Raj after committing the crime has fled away from the spot. The report was entered in the Roznamcha vide No. 8 dated 26.09.2005.
1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Mohan Singh Parihar after hearing APP Ajay Singh Manhas for the State whereas Adv AK Shan for the accused observed that convict namely Kuldeep Raj, age 48 years S/o Gian Chand, caste Bhagat, R/o Rah Salyote, Mohra Thangar, Tehsil Akhnoor is sentenced to undergo imprisonment for life under Section 302 RPC and with fine of Rs. 5000/-, in default of payment of fine, the convict shall undergo six months simple imprisonment. The convict is sentenced to imprisonment for seven years for committing the offence under Section 307 RPC and with fine of Rs.2000/-, in default of payment of fine, the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for three months. The convict is sentenced to imprisonment for two years for committing the offence under Section 325 RPC and with fine of Rs.1000/-, in default of payment of fine, the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for two months. The convict is sentenced to imprisonment for six months for committing the offence under Section 323 RPC and with fine of Rs.500/-, in default of payment of fine, the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for one month. The sentences awarded to the convict shall run concurrently.JNF
