FOB launches Awareness Campaign

Udhampur, Dec13: The Field Outreach Bure-au, Ministry of Inform-ation &
Broadcasting, Govern-ment of India, Udhampur in close coordination with District Administration, Udhampur launched an Intensive Awareness Campaign on SVEEP, RTI and Drug Abuse at Government Higher Secondary School, Jaganu today.
On the inaugural day of 3-days long Campaign a number of IEC activities were carried out to highlight the importance of SVEEP. These activities included Symposium, Expert lectures, distribution of Literature, on the spot enrolment of voters, Theme based cultural programmes. Vijay Kumar Incharge Principal of the host School presided over the function where as Sanjeet Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch of Jaganu was the Chief Guest and Suresh Kumar Parihar, Naib Tehsildar, Jaganu was the Guest of honour.
Sanjeet Kuamar Sharma while addressing the audience lauded the role of Bureau of Outreach & Communication for organizing such type of programmes at grass root level.
He was of the view that enrolment of eligible candidates in voter lists should be top priority of concerned departments and every individual should know his duties and rights in democratic set up of the Country. He also said that SVEEP Programme launched in 2014 from Bihar has played a pivotal role in increasing the number of voter turnout.
Gurnam Singh, Incharge Field Outreach Bureau, Udhampur while welcoming the guests and audience highlighted the importance of SVEEP and urged the gathering to shoulder their responsibilities to make the democratic setup more transparent and accountable by enrolling their names in voter lists to caste franchise.
Vijay Kumar, Incharge Principal of the host school presented vote of thanks and thanked the Bureau of Outreach & Communication for selecting their school for such an intensive awareness Campaign in which SVEEP, RTI and Drug abuse like issues are being taken up for awareness, He was of the view that such programmes should be organized at various places especially far flung and remote so that general public is made aware of such programmes.
Earlier a Symposium on SVEEP was organized in which about 10 students drawn from Government Girls High School and Government Higher Secondary School, Jaganu took active apart and provided important awareness on the subject.
