Man sentenced to 4 years Rigorous imprisonment in rape case

Udhampur. Feb 13: A local court today sentenced a man to four years rigorous imprisonment in rape case of unsound mind girl. Principal District and Sessions Judge Sanjay Parihar awarded the sentence to 60 years old Mani Ram son of Sarvan Resi dent of Sunetar, Ramn agar after convicting him under section 451/376 /511 RPC . On Febuary 18.02. 2017, the victim's mother Krishni Devi approached the police, saying that when she had gone to Ration depot of village Suneter in tehsil Ramnagar and on reaching back home she came to know from her family members that one Mani Ram Chowkidar had enter ed in her house and forcibly committed rape with her unsound mind 30 years old girl . The woman said he threatened her of dire consequences if she narrated the episode to anybody. The victims mother statement was recorded and an FIR was registered against the accused under section 452/376 RPC at Ramnagar police station. Awarding Judgment Judge said that crime of rape or attempt of rape are crimes against the body of a woman which is her own temple . Such offence suffocates the breath of life and sullies her reputation. Accused convict herein happened to be the chowkidar by profession .Thus was guardian of the people who fell in his chowkidari village. Prosecutix being one of them and a helpless subject beside was a person of unsound mind who has fallen prey to his lust . As such accused has been held guilty of commission of offence under section 376/511 RPC is therefore convicted and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 04 years and fine of rupees one lac and for offence under section 451 RPC simple imprisonment of one year and fine of rupees 5000/- . However both the sentence will run concurrently. Out of fined amount rupees 90,000 shall be paid as compensation to the victim and balance amount of fine shall be remitted in favour of state .P.P Navneet Gupta appeared for the state while Advocate Anil Vijay appeared by accused.
