JAMMU, FEB16: In a paradigm shift from awareness to empowerment of people, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur in collaboration with District administration will soon organize a Mega Legal Awareness camp at Ramnagar to make people aware about their entitlements and procedural aspects regarding services of various departments and also connect them with various welfare schemes.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, Sandeep Kour , while chairing a preliminary meeting with different government departments at the conference hall of Deputy commissioner today, said as per the view of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), justice was not confined only to court-based legal services.
Rather justice extends to make people aware of their entitlements under various enactments, welfare schemes, programmes and strengthening their access to the same. Secretary DLSA said the State and District Legal Services Authority had been organizing awareness camps from time to time to make people aware of their entitlements and to apprise them of the availability of free legal services.
However, Secretarty DLSA, said the National Legal Services Authority had observed that in most of the camps, the focus was largely on creating awareness among people rather than deliverance of service to them.
So, he said, a special mega camp is being organized on 23rd February Saturday at Raja Ram Singh Ground in Ramnagar Tehsil, where on-the-spot delivery of services to the people, particularly for welfare schemes, would be ensured.
