DB directs Planning dept to file status report on prevailing traffic scenario in Jammu city with in two weeks failing which 20000 cost will be imposed on them

JAMMU, MARCH, 22: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Citizen Forum through its President RK Chadha regarding fly-over project from Shakuntla-Janipur fly over proposed in 2008 has been abandoned for some extraneous reasons and regarding -congesting/ widening of the Amphalla - Janipur road and regard to de-congesting/widening of the Janipur - High Court Road.
A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sindhu Sharm after hearing Adv Aditya Sharma for the PIL directed the Planning department to file detailed status report on prevailing traffic scenario in Jammu city with in two weeks failing which 20000/- cost will be imposed on them.
Advocate Aditya sharma appearing on behalf of Petitioner submitted that there was the direction by the Highcourt on 6th june ,2018 to the Planning department but till date they had not done so.
Moreover ,Adv.Aditya Sharma submitted that when metro will be started,what will be its cost,how much time it will take, even Metro man Mr.shreedharan had also been appointed as everything had been disclosed in the newspaper by the department head but they preferred not to file detailed status report before the High Court.
It was further submitted by the state counsel that propsoal of road widening as well as other various means like mono rail, trams, etc in order to solve the traffic problem of the Jammu City had already been submitted by the RITES and appropriate decision has to be taken by the government.
Adv.Aseem Sahwaney(AAG) appeared on behalf of the state and sought some time to furnish detailed status report in this regard as well as on Metro project. JNF
