BJP refutes charge alleging lapse of security to Chanderkant

JAMMU, April 13: Strongly refuting a misleading and motivated news item appearing in a section of the press alleging that security threat to Chander Kant Sharma, the RSS leader of Kishtwar, was treated very casually and ignored by the RSS leadership and Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP Candidate for Udhampur-Kathua
Parliamentary constituency, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs stated that the appropriate security was provided to Chander Kant Sharma by the State Police. The said news item is simply biased and misleading in order to somehow help the Congress candidate during this election.
He said that the said news item completely ignores the fact that during the terrorist attack on Sharma, the first to fall to the terrorist bullet was the PSO of Chander Kant Sharma. It is also a matter of fact that Dr Jitendra Singh on hearing the news of said terrorist attack immediately rushed to the spot leaving his campaigning in between and provided his own helicopter (hired privately) for evacuating Late Sharma to Jammu without caring for his own safety and security at such a place where terror attack dad taken place. He remained at the said vulnerable spot for about one and a half hour without any security cover.
Chrungoo added that before the killing of Anil Parihar, the martyr Chander Kant Sharma was not having any personal security provided by the State Police and afterwards taking into consideration various factors and the security threat perception in respect of all the important persons of District Kishtwar, the Police department provided required security to him. Chander Kant Sharma was provided three PSOs out of which two would be always with him on rotation basis. The said news item by completely overlooking and obfuscating the sacrifice made by the PSO of Late Chander Kant Sharma, while endeavouring to save the life of Martyr Chander Kant Sharma, has thereby done great disservice to all those brave soldiers who are working for the security of the State in difficult circumstances.
