Collaborative Training programme on Entrepreneurship Development concludes

JAMMU, Jun 21: Four days collaborative training programme w.e.f 18-21 June, 2019 on "Entrepreneurship development through diversification in agriculture" organized by Extension Education Institute , Nilokheri, Haryana, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare in collaboration with SAMETI-J, SKUAST-J, Chatha concluded here today on 21-06-2019. 29 officers from agriculture and allied departments participated in training programme .
Dr. K.S. Risam , Hon'ble Vice Chancellor , SKUAST-J, exhorted upon the participants that Entrepreneurs are instrumental in initiating and sustaining socio-economic development.
They not only generate self-employment for themselves and rural youth but also provide employment opportunities for others .
He also directed field staff to help the farmers in inculcating and strengthening their entrepreneurship skills, abilities, capabilities so that they can achieve entrepreneurship goals more efficiently and effectively.
Dr. Labh Singh, Regional Director, EEI Nilokheri, Haryana delivered lecture on Role of Extension and communication in Entrepr-eneurship Development. He emphasized importance of communication skills for successful entrepreneurship. Dr. B.C Sharma, Prof. & Head, Division of Agronomy & Dr. Amrish Vaid , Nodal Officer, Mega Seed Project delivered lectures on Crop diversification and Mushroom production , processing and marketing.
They emphasized that crop diversification from traditional agri crops to high value crops and integrating mushroom cultivation in existing farming system will supplement income for rural masses, provide gainful employment and will lead to inclusive growth.
Dr. Sunil Kumar , Prof. & Head, Division of Livestock Production Tec-hnology, F.V.Sc , SKU-AST-J, R.S.Pura delivered lecture on Diversification towards Dairy Proce-sssing and Marketing. He said that Dairy technologies have potential to enhance income and employment generation of entrepreneurs.
Dr. Amit Jasrotia, Associate Professor (Fruit Science ) , Dr. Julie Ban-dral , Associate Professor (Food Technology) & Dr. Sahar Masud, Associate Professor (Fisheries) gave deliberations on Stra-tegies to entrepreneurship development through hi-tech horticulture, value addition, preservation ,processing and fish farming respectively.
