SMVD Shrine Board CEO unfurls tricolour

KATRA, Aug 16: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and patriotism at Katra, the base town for pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji.
The main function at Katra was held yesterday at the Shrine Board's Sports Complex, where Mr. Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, hoisted the tricolour and took salute at an impressive march-past by the contingents drawn from CRPF, NCC, sports persons undergoing coaching at the Sports Complex, besides the students of various educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Simrandeep Singh greeted the people on this joyous occasion. He recalled the sacrifices made by the great national leaders for attaining freedom for the country from foreign rule and emphasised the need for making untiring efforts by one and all to carry forward the country on the path of rapid progress and prosperity. He also gave details of various major infrastructure development projects already completed by the Shrine Board, ongoing and those in the pipeline for facilitation of the pilgrims and for general development of Katra and its surrounding areas.
The students of various educational institutions presented a colourful cultural programme on this occasion based on the theme of patriotism and national integration. The CEO of the Shrine Board gave away prizes to the students who were adjudged best in the march-past and presentation of cultural programme. Among those present on the occasion were Mr. Vimal Indu, President, Municipal Committee, Katra; Mr. Vivek Verma, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board; Mr. Hem Kant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer; Dr. Arvind Karwani, Mr. Amit Vermani and Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Dy. CEOs, SMVDSB; Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH; Mr. Jitendra Kumar Gupta, Comm-andant, 6th Bn. CRPF; Mr. Ashok Kumar, SDM, Katra; Mr. Naresh Singh, Additional SP, Katra; and Mr. Attar Chand, CEO KDA. Others who participated in the function included Members of Municipal Committee, Katra, senior civil, police and security forces officers, prominent citizens, heads of various educational institutions, media persons, officers and staff of the Shrine Board, a large number of people of the area, teachers, school children and the pilgrims.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, Mr. Simrandeep Singh, CEO, SMVDSB, also hoisted the tricolour at a function held at the Central Office of the Shrine Board at Katra. Among those present on the occasion were officers and employees of the Shrine Board. Sweets were also distributed among the children on this occasion.
At the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Chief Admin-istrative Officer, unfurled the tricolour. Medicos and staff of the hospital besides faculty, staff and students of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing were among those present on the occasion. At Bhawan, the flag was hoisted by Mr. Naresh Kumar, SDM Bhawan, in the presence of CRPF, Police and Shrine Board staff.
