DDC Budgam visits Chari-i-Sharief

BUDGAM, OCT 12: The District Development Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganie today visited the Shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) at Char-i-Sharief and took stock of arrangements to be put in place for the annual Urs commencing from October 24. He also chaired a meeting of officers at Community Hall, Char-i-Sharief to finalize the arrangements for the weeklong Urs, which was attended by ADC Budgam Mushtaq Ahmed Simmani, CMO Dr. Nazir Ahmed, SDM Chadoora Aziz Ahmed, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B and other engineering wings, Auqaf Officer of JK Waqf Board, representatives of local Auqaf Committee and district heads of various line departments.
While taking department wise review of arrangements, he directed the PHE and PDD departments to ensure uninterrupted water and electric supply to the town and vicinity areas during the Urs days. He also issued 200 liters of diesel for genset on spot to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Shrine. PDD Executive Engineer was also directed to ensure installation of street lights and timely repair and restoration of existing ones. Executive Engineer PHE was instructed to shift water tanks to convenient spots to ensure round the clock water supply to bathrooms.
With regard to sanitation and cleanliness, the EO of Municipality Char-i-Sharief was directed to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness and ensure regular lofting of garbage from the Shrine area. He was also instructed to make arrangements for the additional mobile toilet facility besides installation of dustbins. Laying stress on cleanliness, DDC said a mega sanitation drive shall be held at Char-i-Sharief on October 23 and announced that District Administration shall distribute 2500 cloth bags to local households to discourage use of plastic.
The Deputy Superintendent Traffic and ARTO Budgam were directed to formulate a foolproof Traffic management Plan to provide to and fro transport facility for the devotees, they were also instructed to arrange additional parking spaces to control traffic congestion. He said that for the first time the traffic route plan shall be notified through print and electric media well in advance to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and avoid any inconveniences to devotees.
Assistant Director FCS&CA, was directed to ensure supply of 1100 quintals of ration with additional quota to the locals and ensure adequate supply of kerosene and cooking gas available for the consumers. The concerned was instructed to ensure sale of quality and standard food items by all food outlets during the Urs days.
Regarding medical facilities, the health department was directed to ensure requisite medical facilities including stationing of critical care Ambulance and establishment of two medical camps at required spots during the Urs days. The R&B department was directed to remove all encroachments of roads to ensure hassle free movement of devotees. The Animal Husbandry Officer was also instructed to establish sale counters where chicken remain available for consumers.
Latter on DDC paid obeisance at the shrine and announced that carpet washing of Khankaah to be carried out prior to Urs commencement. He directed the concerned officers to accelerate pace of work and ensure speedy completion of all works including parks and shopping complex.
