Innovation Day celebrated at University of Jammu

JAMMU, OCT 15: The Institution Innovation Council (IIC), University Business Incubation and Innovation Centre (UBIIC) and University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UoJSPVF), University of Jammu celebrated "Innovation Day" here in the University of Jammu today. In addition to series of activities organised as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Innovation Day was celebrated with immense enthusiasm at the University Campus. The day also marked the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Under this Programme, the students, research scholars and faculty members were encouraged to click their pictures at the three photo booths installed at the Foundation Plaza, the lawns of Department of Environmental Sciences and near UoJSPVF Office. It is pertinent to mention that the students who get maximum likes and upload first 250 pictures on social media shall also be given prizes. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, highlighted the significance of celebrating the Innovation Day. He expressed that this day is being celebrated as a national activity under the Innovation Day Campaign of MHRD's Innovation Cell, Government of India. Prof Dhar also said that the IIC, UBIIC and UoJSPVF at University of Jammu are paving ways for the innovators and entrepreneurs by creating an innovation ecosystem in the region. He put forth that the aim of establishment of the IIC, UBIIC and UoJSPVF is to provide the institutional support towards realizing the entrepreneurial endeavours of the youth and encourage them to think beyond the conventional.
He highlighted that University of Jammu is taking initiatives aligned to promotion of skill development and entrepreneurship qualities in the students by the establishment of University Business Incubation and Innovation Centre, Entrepreneu rship and Skill development Centre and Industry- Academia Interface. Among others present on the occasion were Prof R.K Ganjoo, Registrar, Prof Kulwant Singh, Controller of Examinations, Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas, President, IIC and Director, UBIIC and UoJSPVF, Dr B.K Bajaj, Dr Anil Gupta, Dr Vinay Thusoo, Dr Pallvi Arora, Dr. Skarma, members of Institution Innovation Council (IIC), University of Jammu. The IIC student members who managed the several photo booths included Raghav Sharma, Mehak Saini, Urvashi Vaid, Sahil Koul, Veronika Kour, Ishan Sharma, Amandeep Singh and Vikram.
