Day-5: Srinagar remains abuzz with 'Back to Village' activities

SRINAGAR, NOV 28: Scores of Panchayat halqas in district Srinagar remained abuzz with activities and programmes being organised under ongoing Back to Village-Phase II.Large gatherings were witnessed at Soitang panchayat halqa, Theed-B, Gandthal, Syedipora, Khimber and Faquir Gujree-A of panchayat halqa Harwana in the district.In the third phase, the programme commenced in six panchayat halqas where the visiting officers held on-the-spot review and redressal of issues and received feedback from the locals about the status of developmental projects taken up under different schemes in their areas since the first phase of the outreach programme. In Faquir Gujree-A, the visiting officers Reyaz Ahamd Gassi inaugurated Tulpathri-Faquir Gujree Water Supply Scheme being implemented at a cost of Rupees 35 lakh. The people of the area demanded issuance of BPL ration cards to deserving families besides deployment of medical and para medical staff in the area. The people also demanded early assessment of crop damage caused due to recent snowfall and intervention of horticulture department to introduce high yielding plant varieties in the area.
The people also demanded construction of bridge over Nalla Mallhori for connecting the area with Dara, upgradation of culverts and macadamization of roads in the halqa.
In Soitang area people demanded installation of ATM, upgradation of drainage system and macadamization of inner road connecting the area with National Highway. In Theed-B, with the construction of drainage network at a cost of Rs 2.99 lakh and a new road from Main road Theed-B to Irrigational canal at a cost of Rupees 2.99 lakh under 14th FC, long pending demands of the area were fulfilled.
A delegation from Tribal community Sharasbal Theed put forth various demands including road connectivity, water and power supply besides issuance of Aadhar and voter cards so that they can apply for various Government sponsored schemes.
In Syedipora, people expressed satisfaction over the widening of 5 km road along canal and 1.5 km Ehal Darbagh road in the halqa which was the main demand of the people in the first phase of the programme.
The people also demanded establishment of sports field and macadamization of various inner roads in the area.Speaking on the occasion, the visiting officer Abdul Ahad Bhat informed the gathering regarding Government sponsored flagship programmes like MGNREGA, Ayushman Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Khelo India, Swatch Bharat Mission and other schemes catering tribal communities.In Khimber, people demanded establishment of a bank branch along with an ATM besides early implementation of 14 works approved and identified during the first phase of 'Back to Village' programme in June this year.
In all these six halqas, the visiting officers along with officials of line departments recorded grievances for submission to the concerned quarters for their redressal.
