Kahara, Jan 22: Asserting that Congress will register a massive victory whenever elections to Legislative Assembly are held in the J&K by maintaining definite edge in all regions of J&K, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President, G. M Saroori said while addressing the large attending gatherings here at Kahara and Malanoo areas of Doda district.
Mr Saroori said Congress derives its strength from the people and the people are determined to have a politically stable government, which steers out the J&K from the prevailing morass and a nightmarish era.
"All leaders and activists of the Congress and other political entities, detained since abrogation of article 370 should be released forthwith and all curbs and restrictions on mainstream political parties, their leaders and activists should be lifted to allow them to resume their usual political activities to create a congenial and conducive political atmosphere for a meaningful and credible political process to pave way for holding of early Assembly elections," he further said.
Saroori exuded confidence that with the unflinching support of the people, Congress under the dynamic leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad will emerge as a single largest party in all the regions, as it is visible in every nook and corner of the J&K. In this context, he spelled out the crucial role of the workers and the grass roots level functionaries, who he described as real strength of Congress."Congress has all along been braving conspiracies of the self-seekers and political opportunists and this era has not ended yet, as political arena is full of vested interests who are playing at the tunes of divisive forces to weaken our great party, which is in fact a mass movement of the poor, weak and deprived segments of society", Mr Saroori said, urging the people to remain vigilant against such elements. The BJP government has failed to address political and developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Saroori said and added Tall, stentorian promises of 'ache din' since past 6 years have amounted to 'Ache Din' for a chosen few in terms of their personal welfare while common people have been left to fend for themselves by a brazenly insensitive and callous dispensation.
Saroori said lack of direction and political will have compounded the perception of political uncertainty whereas the government should have tried to provide a hope of inclusive development, reconciliation and peace.
