District Court Jammu distributes relief materials


JAMMU, Jun 20: An initiative was taken by the District Judiciary, Jammu under the stewardship of Sanjeev Gupta, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu (Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu) to distribute relief materials to those needy people affected by the restrictions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Judicial Officers, ministerial staff and prosecution wing of District Jammu voluntarily made contributions to this social cause and an amount of Rs. 3,43,900/- was collected for the said purpose.
The purpose of the initiative has been to provide a helping hand to widows, drivers, cleaners of matadors, autos, potters, porters, musicians and other affected persons who were neglected and had not received any relief yet from any agency, and had suffered in their livelihood alongwith their families due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Each relief kit comprised of rice, atta, pulses, sugar, edible oil, potatoes, onions, soyabean, tea and soap. About 710 kits were distributed across Jammu District by the volunteers and the same reached beneficiary families. The kits were distributed at Kanachak, Mishriwala, Lower Muthi, Nagbani, Chatha, Bhagwati Nagar, Nowabad, Peer Mitha, Ambphalla, Toph Sherkhania, Bahu Plaza, Channi Himmat, Gorkha Nagar, Gangyal, Ratnu Chak, R.S. Pura, Janipur, New Plot, Channi Rama, Pandrian, Shiv Nagar, New Plot, Sarwal, Rajeev Nagar, Rajpura Mangotrian, Seora, Purkhoo, Simbli, Kalyanpur, Kangrial, Lalkal, Ghatla, Manial, Pandorian, Pakhian, Satwari, Gujjar Nagar. Relief kits were also distributed at SOS Home Channi Himmat meant for mentally retarded children, Leprosy Ashram, Bhagwati Nagar, Orphanage Home, Old Age Home at Ambphalla.
Having regard to the enormity of the situation due to COVID-19 situation, the volunteers and the beneficiaries strictly adhered to norms of social distancing, wearing masks, using sanitizers and following all SOPs of the Govt. during the distribution of food and other items.
