Yudhvir launches tree plantation drive

Jammu, Jul 30: J&K BJP Vice President Yudhvir Sethi along with Kuldeep Kandhari District General Secretary and Parveen Kerni President BJP East Madnal today launched a tree plantation drive at Jammu East Constituently here at JDA Park Purani Mandi in presence of party workers and prominent people of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, the J&K BJP Vice President said "In the blind race of development, we forget the mantra of Indian culture that nature is our mother and it cannot be exploited. This is the reason why the temperature of the earth is increasing and badly affected climate. The world is afraid of climate change. There is the only way which our saints and 'Puranas' had told us that trees are friends of human and only trees can save us. Indian culture has accepted the importance of trees and encouraged it," he said.
Exhorting people to fully participate in planting trees to save our environment and reduce effects of greenhouse gases emissions, Sethi informed that the aforesaid drive will be intensified in all the 11 Wards of East Constituency by planting thousands of trees. Sethi asked people not only to safeguard but also to enhance biodiversity in the Union Territory, especially in rain fed areas by planting more number of trees. He asked people to plant a tree on birth of a child or on every auspicious occasion.
Sethi said "We are working to make environment pollution free and to reduce carbon emission from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Our work is to make people aware of the importance of plantation. People across the nation are suffering due to lack of plantation initiatives."
"The initiatives would bring major relief to the environment. This will maintain the balance in the environment," Parveen Kerni President East Mandal.
Scores of locals also joined this drive and hailed the initiatives of J&K BJP leadership. The residents of Purani Mandi area appreciated efforts of Yudhvir Sethi for restoration of environment and expressed their full support for continuation of such drive in near future.
Later, Sethi distributed 500 saplings to Parveen Kerni for carrying out plantation drives in the Jammu East Constituency. "Sudhir Anand, Vice President and Suresh Bharti, Secretary BJP East Mandal shall look after the further plantation drives which will be carried out in all the Wards of East Constituency," Sethi said, adding that the plantation drives will be carried out with the support of social as well religious organizations.
Among others who were present included Vipan Sharma, Rajinder Gupta, Savita Anand, Asif Gill, Sudhir Anand, Parul Mehra, Neeru Anand, Rahul Hindu, Vikas Sharma and Tarun Tak.
