Awareness camp on Strawberry cultivation held at Vijaypur

SAMBA, Oct 23: An Awareness Camp was today held at Vijaypur of under the chairmanship of Chief Horticulture Officer Samba, Anil Kumar Gorka for promotion of Strawberry cultivation for which the department is providing an incentive of Rs. 0.13 lakh per Kanal to the growers under CAPEX Budget scheme. Over 50 farmers/ orchar-dists from adjoining villages, besides PRI members attended the Camp.
The Chief Horticulture Officer asked the participants to take advantage of strawberry cultivation, various central and JKUT sponsored ongoing developmental schemes and shift to Integrated Farming System (IFS). He told them that cultivation of cash crops like strawberry can reap good profit and contribute to the doubling of farmers' income by 2022. Besides, deliberations on Papaya fruit cultivation in the district were also held and plants were also distributed among the participants. Horticulture Develo-pment Officer Vijaypur, S. Davinder Singh, was also present deliberated on the schemes of the department.
