KVK Samba organises One Day Inservice-Training Programme

Jammu, Oct 23: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu organized one day inservice Training programme on "Rain water harvesting and enhancing water productivity". The programme was conducted for field functionaries, under the able guidance of Dr JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor and direct supervision of Dr. S.K. Gupta Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu.
The programme was started with the introduction of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba by Dr. Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Samba. He welcomed all participants and discussed about the mandates and functions of KVK.He stressedupon the need for adoption of soil conservation measures through biological and engineering methods, ground water recharge and roof water harvesting.
Dr.Abhaykumarsinha, the training coordinator of the programme discussed in detail about the concept of watershed management and rain water harvesting. It provides an alternative supply during water restriction.He also stressed about the water productivity and conservation of soil.
Dr.Sanjay Khajuria, laid stress on soil conservation measures through fodder crops. He also explained the importance of rain water harvesting for fodder crops.
Dr. Neerja Sharma delivered the lecture on organic vegetable production through drip irrigation. She also explained the benefit of sprinkler irrigation.
