Deputy Mayor celebrates Vilay Diwas

JAMMU, Oct 26: Purn-ima Sharma, Deputy Mayor JMC celebrated 'Vijay Diwas' also known as day on which the Accession of Jammu and Kashmir with India took place.
Purnima Sharma along with Vinay Gupta (Jammu District President BJP), Parveen Arora (State Executive Member), Narendra Gupta (Koki) (Secretary Jammu District BJP), Vinod Gupta, Parveen Kerni (Mandal President), Sangeeta Anand, Gopal Sanotra (Add. Office Secretary Mandal BJP), Vijay Sharma (President Booth no. 02, ward no. 01), Shubh Lata Sharma (District General Secretary Mahila Morcha Jammu), Sunita Wazir (District Vice President Mahila Morcha Jammu), Kasturi Lal and many other prominent members of ward no. 1 assembled at Mubarak Mandi Complex and Atal Ji Chowk in ward no. 01 to celebrate the occasion by paying floral tribute to Maharajah Hari Singh of J&K and also by lighting diyas. Amidst chanting of "Vande Matram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", and waving of the tri-colour in their hands, the national tri-colour was hoisted and flowers showered to the tri-colour followed by singing the National Anthem.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv. Purnima Sharma said that we are celebrating vilay diwas because accession created the possibility of our real empowerment and paved the way for all freedoms that mankind should have to flow into our UT. She Highlighting the Vilay diwas(Accession Day) said that Instrument of Accession is a legal document executed by Maharajah Hari Singh, ruler of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, on 26 October 1947 with Bharat. By executing this document under the provisions of the Indian Independence Act 1947, Maharajah Hari Singh agreed to accede to the Dominion of India.
She further said that October 26 is a special day in the history of India as well as in the history chapter of Jammu and Kashmir. We are proud of this important historical day, when instrument of accession was executed by Maharaja Hari Singh in October 26, 1947. The accession of J&K with India is complete irrevocable and thus unchallengeable.
