JMC distributes dustbins to shopkeepers of City Chowk


JAMMU, Oct 28: With a view to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the markets and also to stop disposal of garbage on roads, Jammu Municipal Corporation distributed dustbins to the shopkeepers of City Chowk and Super Bazar by Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, JMC in presence of Ms. Avny Lavasa (IAS), Commi-ssioner and under the overall supervision of Ms. Tinna Mahajan (KAS), Secretary, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Further, Mayor JMC appealed to the owners of shopkeepers & Hoteliers and other businessman establishment owners to handover the waste only to designated vehicles which have been kept exclusively for this purpose. The Commissioner, JMC also spoke on the occasion and make people aware of the fine & penalties to be imposed on defauleters and violaters as per municipal bye laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. The amount of fines & penalties for different violators and defaulters has already been notified by JMC through electronic & print media.
The market association appreciated the efforts of JMC for providing dustbins to shopkeepers of the area and also for maintaining sanitation as well as providing other civic amenities in their respective areas and assured that they shall
provide full cooperation
to Jammu Municipal Corporation for maintaining sanitation upto to the satisfactory level.
The Commissioner appealed the general public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation so that the aim of Swachh Bharat can be achieved and assured the citizens of the city that no stone shall remaine unturned in providing better sanitation facilities.
