JAMMU, Jan 12: Sham Lal Langer, Convener, BJP's J&K Industries & Trade Cell today urged the Union Territory administration to regularise the Apsara Road Market and various industries set up in Jammu, so as to facilitate their smooth and hassle-free functioning. Langer said that upon its inception in 1964, the Gole Market in Gandhi Nagar was planned keeping in mind around a dozen shops.
"However, with times, more and more shops kept coming up and Apsara Road market became the hub of businesses in the City of Temples, contributing greatly to the economy of the erstwhile State, besides becoming of greater historical significance of the ethos and culture of Jammu," said Langer in a statement issued today.
"It is high time that the government regularises the Apsara Road Market at the earliest so that the shopkeepers here can carry out their businesses in a smooth and hassle-free manner. Langer said that in recent times, Jammu Municipal Corporation has been bothering the traders for no fault of theirs. "With the regularisation of the market at the prescribed fee, the traders won't have to face problems anymore," he said. The senior BJP leader also demanded the similar provision for the industrial units in the region.
