Bharatiya Janata Party's principle of no compromise with the national sovereignty has ensured that the dreaded anti-national elements are finally made to pay for their deeds, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta said today, referring to framing of charges against chief of banned terrorist organisation JKLF Yasin Malik by a TADA court.
Hitting out at Kashmir based political parties for shielding these elements in the past, Gupta also warned other indulging in anti-national activities to mend their ways or face the consequences.
"In 1991, Yasin Malik and his associates had abducted Dr Rubiya Sayeed so that they could get their terrorists associates released from prison. Over the years, successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir could not bring the JKLF to prosecution. It was during BJP's rule that he was arrested, and today, after 30 long years, the TADA court has framed charges against him," Gupta said.
"One after other, the Kashmir-centric governments in the erstwhile State, be it National Conference, or People's Democratic Party or their alliance partner Congress, they have always favoured and shielded the anti-national elements.
It was due to them and their such policies that Yasin Malik's case was pending for the last 30 years," he said while hitting out at regional parties in Valley.
"BJP is a pro-nation and pro-people government. Our government has never done, nor will compromise with sovereignty of the nation. And framing of charges against Malik and his associates after 30 long years has proved that," said Gupta.
