Congress celebrates Lohri, Maha Sankranti

JAMMU, Jan 14: The Congress party celebrated the occasion of Lohri and Maha Sankranti in a combined program organised at PCC Headquarters, Jammu. Former Minister J&K Raman Bhalla, Vice President JKPCC and Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney, General Secretary JKPCC and In-charge District President Jammu (U) presided over the celebratory function. "The main aim of this function was to pay a tribute to our farmers who have lost their lives and others who are still continuing to fight in the ongoing Kisan Andolan.", Sawhney said.
Sawhney, while addressing the media, congratulated the people of J&K on the pious festivals of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, on behalf of the Congress party and prayed for prosperity and peace for the union territory.
Furthermore, the celebration marked a show of solidarity with the farmers and their ongoing struggle against the centre over the contentious farm laws. Sawhney, along with congress leaders, paid tributes to the farmers who had lost their lives in the farmers' protests. He further said that the Centre failed to justify to the people of the country and to the farmer leaders, over the last 50 days of intense struggle. Also criticizing the attitude of the centre, Sawhney said that the government needs to withdraw the laws immediately and pay heed to the farmers' demands.
Other prominent Congress leaders present in the function included JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Sanjiv Sharma, Madan Malager, Dr. Rama-kant Khajuria, Chander Shekhar Sharma, Atul Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Michel Wazir, Jatin Vashisht, Rickey Dalotra, Ram Magotra, Rakesh Sharma, Gurmeet Singh, J J Singh, Sandeep Dogra and others was also present on the occasion.
