RPO Jammu observes Swachhta Pakhwada

JAMMU, Jan 15: The Regional Passport Office (RPO) Jammu observed Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st January to 15thJanuary with a great deal of zeal and fervor. The event began with an introduction to Swachhta Pakhwada, its importance, highlights of ill effects of dirtiness and use of plastic use, role of citizens, administering of the pledge to all the employees of RPO Jammu and its branche offices Post Office Passport SevaKendras (POPSKs) Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri, Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Jammu and Regional Office ofIndian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) Jammu. An oath was taken to maintain cleanliness all around and to achieve the objectives set by our legendary Prime Minister under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to make our country greener, cleaner and better.
While informing this, N.K.Shil, Regional Passport Officer and Regional Director, ICCR, J&K and Ladakh said that during the Pakhwada, intensive activities of cleaning and sanitization of the whole premises, furniture, tables, chairs, floors, staircase, computers and all technical equipment, etc were being carried out with a special focus on 'no use of single use plastic'.
Later on, fogging of office campus took place. Passport Office employees cleaned the adjacent market complex. Above all, special thrust was given to clear off pending cases and disposing off old condemnable items from storage. In addition, during Pakhwada, RPO also organized the various inhouse competitions regarding "SWACHHTA" for two days on 9th&10th January. All RPO, TCS staff and family members had enthusiastically participated in the contest.
Participants also made banners and posters to create awareness among visiting applicants, staff and to keep our surroundings neat, clean and safe including Covid-19 related precautions. Further, face covering Masks, hand gloves, soap, sanitizing materials/kit were also distributed among applicants and supporting staff.
Shil also delivered speech on 'cleanliness, inside out' - to sensitize and ensure good health and hygiene by providing awareness on clean and safe environment, personal health, hygiene and good practices in work places including hand washing on cleanliness apart from physical distancing, in order to create safe, healthy, clean and green environment.
Further he intimated that the prime aim of the exercise was to create awareness about the cleanliness drive and to solve the problem of sanitization and waste management, better out of waste and ensure hygiene across the country and sanitization facility.
