95-yr old gritty fight defeats Covid

Mohali, Jan 16: The day when Covid vaccination drive was launched all over the country, in Mohali defying all odds, a 95-yr old elderly won a 19-day gritty battle against Covid -19.
He was discharged from Ivy Hospital, Mohali on Saturday evening where he was admitted on December 28 with severe breathlessness, cough, fever and oxygen saturation of 80% only.
Giving information, Dr. Suresh Goyal senior consultant of pulmonary medicine at Ivy Hospital, Mohali said that after his antigen test came positive, he was shifted to RICU with diagnosis of Covid pneumonia and COPD with respiratory failure.
On the 8th day of admission the patient developed sepsis. He was given a Haemodialysis session next day. He responded to treatment thus kidney & liver functions improved gradually, said Dr Goyal.
He was shifted to the ward after stabilization and a repeat test came negative. During his fight against the virus, there were many ups and downs during treatment. But with doctors help and support and his spirit to live kept him fighting all odds, informed Dr Goyal.
He was discharged in satisfactory condition with good oxygen saturation.
