Villagers can be junior artistes: Pankaj Tripathi

16/04/2021

Proud of his roots, Pankaj Tripathi has often been a part of the Bihar government’s initiatives.
Now, the actor has initiated talks with the government about creating a small-scale film city in a village near Patna, thus generating employment opportunities in the state.
A source says, “The actor had sent in his suggestion earlier this year to the government officials.
He noted that by investing in the beautification and infrastructure development of the area, and offering the necessary facilities for filming, the state can encourage more shoots, which will in turn boost its economy.”
Confirming the development, Tripathi says he hopes to model the set-up along the lines of Meghalaya’s Mawlynnong, which has earned pride of place as Asia’s cleanest village.
“A film-friendly mohalla is possible with a little funding from the government.
The area can be used by filmmakers across the country, who will have a solid support system in the locals. The villagers can also act as junior artistes or be part of the crew of the films being shot there,” says the actor. Last year, the Uttar Pradesh government announced the establishment of a film city in Noida.
