Mumbai is a city I fell in love with, while Delhi is home for me: Sanjana Sanghi

18/04/2021

Sanjana Sanghi, born and brought up in Delhi, and a former student of Lady Sriram College, moved to Mumbai bag and baggage to pursue her career in show business.
A few years down the line, the actress has fallen head over heels in love with Mumbai, which is as good as home for her. While most people find it difficult to love another city as much as their home city, Sanjana seems to have struck a perfect balance.
Talking about it, she says, “Mumbai is a city I fell in love with, while Delhi is home for me. I was very young when I started travelling to Mumbai. It used to be for different kinds of short-term assignments.
But thanks to that, this city and its people are not unfamiliar to me. In fact, so many people I know in the business today have seen me auditioning since I was 15.
Luckily, I continue to share a unique relationship with all of them. I have always tried to balance my life with one foot here and one foot in Delhi. It’s worked well for me so far. I love Mumbai; it’s such a passionate city when it comes to work and also when it comes to its ability to get back on its feet in the face of the greatest crisis.
Of course, sometimes when the going gets tough, I yearn for a little time back home, in Delhi.”
The actress has been making swift moves in Bollywood. While she has nearly wrapped up work on Om: The Battle Within with Aditya Roy Kapur, she's also likely to headline the cast of the horror-comedy, Munjha, considered to be a part of Stree and Roohi universe.
Talking about who she turns to for professional advice and who her sounding boards are, Sanjana says, "When at a crossroad, I always turn to my family. I am close to them - my parents and my brother. I would not be doing what I am doing here without them, and the sacrifices that they have made for me every step of the way. I was a student balancing my studies with my work.
That would not have been possible without my brother and my parents. At 28, my brother is so wise.
And I also have my best friends whose equation with me has not changed since the time I have known them.
They make fun of the posters of my films and all the stuff that happens in my line of work, which is their way of ensuring that I keep my feet to the ground.
They make it easy for me to accept things as just a part of my life, and get going.
Things tend to weigh you down in this profession. I have been with this bunch of friends since I was three years old and I value our bond the most. They don't let anything get too heavy for me."
