Mahant Narendra Giri found dead at Baghambari Muth

PRAYAGRAJ, Sep 20: Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri was found dead at Baghambari Mutt here on Monday, police said.
His body was found hanging from the ceiling at his room which was locked from inside, police here said.
According to the police, the prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide.
Police said a purported suicide note was recovered from his room, and a forensic probe of the letter would be done to establish if it was written by him.
Swami Anand Giri, disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri, who was allegedly named in the purported suicide note found in the room where Giri was found dead, claimed innocence and alleged there was a conspiracy against him.
"Those who succeeded in separating us are behind his death," Anand Giri claimed talking to news channels after reports of the Mahant's death in mysterious circumstances surfaced.
Asked to reveal the names that could be responsible for the Mahant's death, he said he was scared for his life, and refused to divulge any details.
There were reports of differences between him and Anand Giri.
Yesterday, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya went to the temple and took blessings from the Mahant. Recently, DGP Mukul Goyal also went to the temple.
Mahant Raju Das, of the famous Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya, too expressed his grief and said that its a great loss to the saint fraternity.
Several leaders, including UP CM Yogi Adityanath, condoled the demise of Baratiya Akhada Parishad president.
"The demise of Mahant Narendra Giri ji, President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, is an irreparable loss to the spiritual world. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and strength to the bereaved followers to bear the loss," Mr Adityanath tweeted.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav expressed his grief over the demise. "It is an irreparable loss! May God grant the virtuous soul a place at his feet and strength to his followers to bear this sorrow. Heartfelt tribute," he said.
