J&K sees six more coronavirus deaths, 3,499 cases

JAMMU, Jan 16: Roads in Jammu wore a deserted look and market places fell silent on Sunday morning with the weekend curfew clamped in the Union Territory to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The administration had ordered complete restrictions on non-essential movement during weekends and also extending the existing COVID-19 restrictions till further orders.
A shopkeeper selling vegetables said, "We were already suffering because of the previous lockdowns and now this. Doda administration's decision to allow only essential services doesn't help us either."
He also urged people to follow the COVID norms and abide by the restrictions of the curfew while also asking the administration to also look into the problems being faced by poeple due to these restrictions as they are unable to earn their livelihood.
Meanwhile, J&K recorded 3,499 fresh coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the infection count to 3,59,373, while six deaths were also reported in the past 24 hours, officials said.
Out of the fresh cases, 1,210 were from the Jammu division and 2,289 from the Kashmir division of the Union Territory, the officials said.
They said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 614 new cases, followed by 556 cases in Jammu district.
There are 15,883 active coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir, while the number of recoveries stands at 3,38,923, the officials said.
The new fatalities raised the death toll from the pandemic to 4,567 in the Union Territory, they said.
The Bulletin also informs that no new case of Mucormycosis has been reported today, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.
On COVID vaccination, the bulletin informs that 33,419doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to1,98,57,038.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 359373 positive cases, 15883are Active Positive (6589in Jammu Division and 9294in Kashmir Division), 338923 have recovered and 4567 have died; 2221 in Jammu division and 2346in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 20296215 test results available, 359373 samples have tested positive and 19936842 samples have been tested as negative till date. Besides, 74,593 COVID tests have been conducted in last 24 hours.
Till date 5510049 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 8402persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 15883 in isolation and 431568 in home surveillance. Besides, 5049629 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the Bulletin said that Srinagar reported 614 cases, Baramulla reported 463 cases, Budgam reported 404 cases, Pulwama reported 94 cases, Kupwara reported 157 cases, Anantnag reported 230 cases, Bandipora reported 106 cases, Ganderbal reported 27 cases, Kulgam reported 127 cases while as Shopian reported 07 fresh cases for today.
Similarly, Jammu reported 556 cases, Reasi reported 89 cases for today, Udhampur reported 126 cases, Rajouri reported 39 cases, Doda reported 20 cases, Kathua reported 163 cases, Samba reported 112 cases, Poonch reported 67 case, Kishtwar reported 20 cases while as Ramban reported 18 fresh cases for today.
Moreover, the bulletin also highlights that against the availability of 4794 dedicated level 1 & level 2 COVID beds, only 337 (7.02%) are occupied.
