GDC Khour organizes Intramural Chess Championship

JAMMU, May 19: The Department of Sports & Physical Education of GDC Khour organized intramural chess championship for men and women in the college premises. The event was inaugurated by Dr. T.K. Sharma, Principal of the college in which he encouraged the participants as well as spectators to actively participate in such types of sports activities for the holistic development of personality. Also on this occasion Prof. Tarsem Lal stressed that such type of events are the great initiatives to provide a platform for budding player to launch their professional career in sports & games. Among others, Dr. Kuldeep Raj Sharma and Dr. Suraj Parkash were also present.
A total of 08 girls and 16 boys from various semesters participated in the event. The winner was decided through knockout fixture in which Ms. Nacy kumari of Sem. 3rd in women section and Mr. Mandeep singh of Sem. 1st in men section stood first while Shivani chib of semester 1st and Vikas singh 3rd semester bagged second position in women and men section respectively. The winners were awarded with certificates. The whole event was organized & officiated by Mr. Goutam Sharma (Physical Director) and Mr. Suresh Kumar.
