I have always been versatile: Avika Gor

29/06/2022

Which project has been most challenging?
I think Sasural Simar Ka challenged me the most. I mean, everyday you’ve to do supernatural stuff that you personally don’t believe in and convince yourself to make it look real as an actor because that’s your job. I think that was the most difficult thing to do. If we talk about the movies, #Bro was something very difficult because it was in Telugu and also the character.
What has it been like balancing films and television?
It is fun doing TV and movies together at the same time. I remember I made my debut when I was giving my 10th boards. So, there was so much happening in my life and Sasural Simar Ka was ongoing. Right now, my focus is just movies and I haven’t been doing TV for a while and I absolutely miss it.
What made you finally sign a Bollywood film after a successful career in regional cinema?
I always wanted to do a Hindi movie and not just Telugu or regional films. I was waiting for the right script and the minute I was approached for 1920 Horrors of Heart, I realised that this is the kind of script I would want to work on.
What can we expect from your Bollywood debut?
My Bollywood debut has a lot of performances. It’s not just about looking beautiful.
It’s got a lot to do with performance and I think people down South really appreciate the fact that I choose scripts where I get to do a lot and not just dance around.
Why did you decide to work with a new director?
Even though Krishna Bhatt has just debuted as a director, she has definitely done work earlier. She also has the guidance of Mahesh Bhatt sir and Vikram Bhatt sir.
What is the future plan?
I have always been versatile and I’m glad that it’s been noticed. I look forward on getting more opportunities where I can reach out to more audiences. That’s the purpose of an actor.
What inspires you?
The love that I receive from my fans inspires me to give my best every day. I get to do what I absolutely love and enjoy and I think that process inspires me to not take anything for granted.
Why do you love about being an actress?
I love being an actress because I get to do so many different things in my life. I get to learn instruments, learn dance forms and try to learn different accents. I love being different characters and adapting those mannerisms and the whole process.
