GDC RS Pura conducts seminar to celebrate National Librarian’s Day

JAMMU, Aug 12: Department of Library Science of GDC R. S. PURA conducted a seminar to celebrate National Librarian's Day under the aegis of IQAC, AKAM & under Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign.
The event was organized under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Sunil Uppal, & supervision of Ms. Nisha Kumari, Librarian/ HOD, Department of Library Science. The topic of discussion was Impo-rtance of Librarian's Day & Libraries in Changing Envi-ronment. The programme was started with the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. S.R. Ran-ganathan. On this occasion all library staff members and library science students were present. Participants had shared their views related to the theme of the seminar. The event was adjudged by Ms. Nisha Kumari, Lib-rarian & Prof. Kajal Premi, HOD Physical Education. Ms. Siya Kumari of semester 4th bagged first position, Mr. Arun Kashyap of semester 4th got second position, Ms. Vandana Kumari & Ms. Urvashi of semester 4th secured third position.
Ms. Nisha Kumari, Librarian highlighted some of the important contributions of Dr. S.R. Ranga-nathan who has been regar-ded as Father of Library Science in India & mentioned his contribution for the profession and express her best wishes Happy Librarian's Day to the Library staff members and students on this occasion. The Principal of the college appreciated the efforts taken by the department to organize such programme, for providing effective library services using new technologies, conveyed his greetings to the staff and students. Certificates of pa-rticipation were also issued by the Principal of the college to the participants.
