Car hits students, one killed, 11 injured in Kathua

JAMMU, Jan 30: A student was killed and 11 others injured, one of them critically when a car hit them outside the school on Monday in Kathua district.
Police said that the Punjab registration car on way towards Jammu hit children near D S Heritage School at Barwal Morh.
As per officials, one of the students identified as Bumika Hans,17, resident of village Nihalpur, Palli Morh, District Kathua was declared as brought dead by the doctors in the hospital.
The injured students are Dhanni Bhakta, Pragthi, Shagun, Vansh Kumar, Hitesh Kumar, Natesh Kumar, Raghunandan, Sourab, Govind and Amit Logtra.
Police said that the car driver has been arrested on the spot.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, tweeted, "Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic road accident in #Kathua wherein children of D.S Heritage School were hit by a car resulting in the death and injuries to about 10 other children. I am in constant touch with DC, Rahul Pandey."
"Two children shifted to Pathankot, others to the District Hospital, all possible help being provided.
Any further assistance as per requirement will also be provided. Meanwhile, my sincere sympathies with the parents of the affected children," he wrote on microblogging site.
