SLCA organizes awareness programon “Drug Abuse, Prevention and Treatment”

JAMMU, Mar 27: JKSPYM State Level Coor-dinating Agency (SLCA) organized an awareness programon "Drug Abuse, Prevention and Treatment" for community members ofJourian, Akhnoorin collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Govt. of India.
Around 80 community members including college studentsof GDC Jourian participated in the awarenessprogram and program was organized in college premises.Principal, GDC Jourian Dr. Anuradha Pandoh was also present on the occasion. The Resource personswere from JKSPYM organization.
As per National Action Plan on Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Government of India (GOI) awareness programs like these needs to be conducted on a regular basis covering all the strata of society.
Resource personsgenerated awareness regarding the drugs, process of drug addiction, types of drugs, preventive measures and the treatment process.
They also generated awareness about the various services provided by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment i.e., Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Outreach and Drop-in Centre (ODIC) and Community Peer Led Intervention (CPLI).
"Nukkad Natak" on "Drug Abuse Prevention" was presented by the members of 'NatManch' to aware the community members and students about the ill effects of drugs and drug addiction. JKSPYM team includes Mr. Sourav Sharma, Mr. Novinder Kumar and Ms. Taniya Sharma.
Mr. Deepak Bhati, SLCA Official ended the program with the vote of thanks toresource persons and all the people who were present on the occasion. Refreshment and pamphlets were also distributed among the participants. Program ended with discussions and Question-answer session.
