Cadet of NCC Jammu selected to join Indian Army

Jammu, Mar 28: NCC Cadet Zubiksha Thakur of 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Jammu has been selected for Short Service Commi-ssion as an officer in the Indian Army. She has been selected as part of NCC Special Entry Scheme which enables NCC cadets holding the "C" Certificate to report directly for the SSB Interview.
Zubiksha credits her success to the support of her family, her mentors and friends as well as her training as an NCC cadet that helped her in developing discipline and character. She also highlights that her training in NCC, especially her participation in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi as an NCC Cadet, was instrumental in motivating her to choose the Armed Forces as the career of her choice.
Having successfully cleared the Services Sele-ction Board (SSB) at Bhopal in the beginning of March 2023, Zubiksha is now all set to join Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai on 31 Mar 2023. She will be part of the Short Service Commission (NCC Special) (Women) 53rd Course at OTA Chennai. After successful completion of 49 weeks of training at OTA Chennai, Zubiksha Thakur will be co-mmissioned as a Lieutena-nt (Lt) in the Indian Army.
NCC has been at the fore front in motivating children with the motto 'Unity and Discipline'. The aim of NCC is to develop character, comradeship, secular outlook, leadership, spirit of Adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the youth. It provides suitable environment to youth to join defence forces as Officers and men/women.
