GDC RS Pura organizes seminar on “Relevance of Lok-Geets”

JAMMU, May 25: Cultural and Fine Arts Committee in collaboration with Department of Hindi organized a seminar on "Relevance of Lok-Geets" under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and presidency of G-20. The event was conducted under the worthy patronage of the Principal Prof. Rajni Bhagat. Dr. Anuradha, Convener Cultural committee introduced the seminar to the students and gave a background and history of Lok-Geets in India generally and J&K specifically. In the Seminar, Prof. Balwan Singh talked about the evolution of Lok-Geets in different stages and how they are significant to preserve the folk culture and heritage of a society.
Around 40 students participated in the seminar. Principal of the college being a history scholar gave an insight into the historical perspective of 'Lok-Geets'. Dr. Neena Gupta, Dr, Kiran Pathania, Prof, Vijay Kumari were present in the event. Prof Shaveta Chowdhary concluded the proceedings by formal vote of thanks.
