RISHIKESH, May 25: International cooperation and unified efforts are needed to eliminate corruption at the global level, Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said on Thursday.
"The battle against corruption cannot be fought alone. It is an international problem and integrated efforts are needed to put an end to it," Bhatt told reporters in Narendra Nagar on the sidelines of the ongoing 2nd anti-corruption working group meeting of G20 nations.
The impact of corruption is far reaching and calls for a robust institutional framework for its elimination, he said.
He said it was a matter of pride for Uttarakhand to host an event like this. The second anti-corruption working group meeting will deliberate on the measures to rein in corruption at the global level.
The outcome of the meeting will show the world the way using information technology to fight corruption in public life, he said.
In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had suggested nine points at the G-20 Summit held in Argentina to fight corruption in public life. These points will be debated further at the event over the next few days, the minister said.
More than 90 delegates from G-20 member countries, 10 invited countries and nine international organisations are participating in the three-day event.
