UDHAMPUR, Jun 1: A one-day training session and orientation for purchasing through Govern-ment e-Marketplace (GeM) was held today in Govern-ment College for Women Udhampur. The College principal, Prof. Anjali Mahajan, gave a description of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). Acco-rding to her, GeM is a dynamic, ongoing project of the government to change how government ministries and departments, public sector organisations, and other top autonomous bodies of the government acquire goods and services.
The portal, according to her, allows for the utilisation of historical data and a feedback system for decision-making, promoting caution in budget management, quick account settlement with prompt payment to service providers, better pricing discovery, and the creation of auditory records.
Principal Prof. Anjali Mahajan, who was speaking at the event, stated that the main goal of the orientation programme is to inform all of the purchase committee members about the Gover-nment e-Marketplace, a larger common platform for sale and procurement that is now a required purchase platform for all government departments. She also stressed about completing all the formalities before proceeding to buy on GeM.
Prof. Paramjit Singh, HoD of the Department of Computer Science, delivered a thorough presentation on registration and purchasing via the GeM portal at the event. He detailed a step-by-step process for how to purchase on the GeM portal. The problems faced by the purchasers from the purchasing committee as well as other members were also addressed throughout the orientation workshop.
Prof. Kewal Kumar, the convener of the college purchase committee, as well as other members or representatives of the purchase committee, attended the function. Prof. Kewal Kumar also stated that the benefits of the GeM portal include enabling single-window sales and procurement of all general goods and services through a streamlined procedure based on the principles of efficacy, transparency, and economy.
