GDC Khour celebrates World Bicycle Day

JAMMU, Jun 3: NSS unit of GDC Khour celebrated World Bicycle Day. On the occasion a talk on the theme "Adopt a Bicycle" was organised. The speaker Prof Dalip Kumar, Department of Environment Studies spoke about the increasing importance of adopting bicycles in today's world. As we face global challenges such as climate change, congestion, and public health concerns, bicycles offer a sustainable and practical solution. He explained howBicycles are one of the most environment friendly modes of transportation available. He also suggested that creating bike-friendly cities and communities can greatly enhance livability and quality of life.
By investing in infrastructure such as bike lanes, bike parking, and shared paths, cities can encourage more people to choose bicycles as a mode of transportation. He concluded by saying that adopting bicycles offers numerous benefits, including environmental sustainability, reduced congestion, improved public health, cost savings, accessibility, and enhanced livability.
More than 50 students were present for the talk.This programme was organised by NSS Programme Officer Gurvinder Kour under the able guidance of Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr) T K Sharma.
