2 days course on Intellectual Property Rights at SKPAU concludes

Udhampur, Jun 3: A 2 days course on "Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) which commenced at SKPA on 2.6.2023 culminated today. 19 officers from different wings of J&K Police attended the training program. The course was designed to meet the basic objectives like Overview of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). Introduction and the need for IPRs in India, Overview of Biotechnology and Intellectual Property, Research and IPRs Management.
Introduction, Need and Protection of Patents and Trademarks, Overview of Trade Marks Act, 1999, Overview of Copyrights Act, 1957: Legal Framework for Enfor-cement & Role of Police, Counterfeiting and Piracy in Physical and Digital World: Scope, Impacts, and Challenges in Enforcement of IPRs. In order to imbibe the objective of the course among the participants, eminent guest faculties from CIPAM Ministry of Commerce and Industries, GoI New Delhi were invited to share their vast experiences with the participants.
A valediction function was organized in the Academy. Rajinder Kumar Gupta, JKPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor) was the chief guest on the occasion. During his valediction address, Gupta, raised serious concerns on violations of IPRs which causes a serious threat. He also emphasized on the need for equipping police officer with appropriate knowledge and training on the subject. The course was coordinated by Sukhvir Singh, Dy.SP, AD (Outdoor) & assisted by Chander Mohan Sharma, Inspr. member faculty.
