UT status to Ladakh is BJP’s dream project: Gadkari

Leh: Addressing a massive election rally at Polo Ground, Leh, on May 4, former BJP national president Nitin Gadkari said that the BJP-led NDA Government in Delhi will grant UT status to Ladakh, as it is the BJP's dream project. "The BJP-led NDA will grant UT status to Ladakh. It's the BJP's dream project. The BJP will establish higher educational institution in Ladakh to cater to the educational needs of the Ladakhis. Construction of Zojila tunnel and direct link between Ladakh and Holy Mansrover is on the top of the BJP's agenda," Nitin Gadkari said, adding that an all-weather road between Srinagar-Jammu and Leh and Kargil and between Leh and Kargil and Himachal Pradesh will also be on the BJP's priority list.
Commenting on the plight of the people of Ladakh, Nitin Gadkari said that the NC-Congress coalition government has always treated the people of strategic trans-Himalayan region "unfairly" and that the BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi will undertake steps aimed at mitigating their hardships and fulfilling their political, socio-cultural and economic aspirations. "The BJP is fully aware of the plight of the Ladakhis, as also of the discriminatory policies being evolved and implemented by the NC-Congress coalition government. The BJP will not only grant UT status to them to enable them to lead a dignified life, protect and promote their distinct identity and personality and shape their future under the Indian constitution, but will also include Boti language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution," he said, adding that the Congress and the NC have caused enough of damage to Ladakh and the BJP will do all that it could to compensate for the losses they have suffered thus far. Rejecting outright the demands like autonomy and self-rule, Nitin Gadkari said that the need of the time is to integrate the entire state fully into India by doing away with the provision that has created a high wall between the state and the centre. "Article 370 has no place whatsoever in the nation's scheme of things, as it has harmed the state and jeopardized the interests of the people and the nation as a whole," he further said, adding that the BJP-led NDA Government under Narendra Modi will adopt a pro-active policy calculated to defeat the evil game-plan of China and Pakistan. "China and Pakistan will not be allowed to play their nefarious games in the region," he said, adding that the BJP-led NDA Government will implement the national resolve on Jammu & Kashmir and make all efforts to retrieve the illegally-occupied areas of POJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Nitin Gadkari came down heavily on the Abdullah and Nahru-Gandhi dynasties and said that their days are only numbered. "While the people of the state have decided to decimate the Abdullah dynasty politically, the people in the rest of the country are determined to decimate the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. "The Abdullah dynasty and the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, which have destroyed the polity and divided the society on caste and communal lines, will become a story of the past after May 16, when the election results are declared," he said, added that the Abdullahs in the state and Gandhi dynasty in Delhi have been deflecting the people's attention from the real issues facing the country by brazenly indulging in communal and divisive politics and that both the dynasties are mortally afraid of Narendra Modi, who has won the hearts and minds of the people across the nation by his able and effective leadership, administrative acumen, vision, commitment to the unity and integrity of the country and oratory. "Both these dynasties would become marginal after the election results are out, as the people have developed hatred for them owing to their negative role in Jammu & Kashmir and across the nation," he further said and added that the people of Ladakh will vote overwhelmingly in favour of the BJP candidate for the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat Thupstan Chhewang. "The BJP will win a minimum of three seats in the state, including two from Jammu and one from Ladakh, as the Narendra Modi wave has gripped the state like other states," he said, adding the people of Jammu & Kashmir want a strong and stable government and a government that delivers, takes care of China and Pakistan and achieves for the country a right place in the comity of the self-respecting nations. "The policy of appeasement is alien to the BJP," he further said, adding that the BJP stands for one nation, one state and one people and it believes in the cardinal principle justice for all and appeasement to none.
Others who addressed the rally included State in-charge MP Avinash Rai Khana, Co-incharge MLA R P Singh, Thupstan Chhewang.
