Sham reviews public service delivery system, dev works

JAMMU, JULY 31:- Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma chaired a meeting of district level officers here today to review status of delivery of public services besides taking stock of ongoing developmental works.
Mr. Sham who is here on rotational weeklong tour to attend the summer secretariat had a detailed review of essential services like CAPD, power and water supply, irrigation and flood control besides other issues concerning people of the region.
Director CAPD Jammu, G.S. Chib informed the Minister the process for opening of new CAPD outlets in Jammu region is in process.
The Minister asked the CAPD authorities to maintain distant and population wise list in every area for creation of these newly sanctioned sale depots.
The Minister took overall view of development of Fruit and Vegetable markets in Jammu province and directed the concerned officers to expedite the ongoing works. He expressed the need for early development of mega project market in Jammu.
Deputy Director Horticulture, J.P. Sharma explained that the land for development of mega markets has been identified.
The Minister asked the staff for handing over possession of shop sites left over allotees in Akhnoor and undertake the protection work of the market.
The Minister also took stock of various projects in Jammu city and directed the executing agencies to complete all remaining works within time frame period. He laid special emphasis on maintaining adequate power supply and repair of damaged feeders/transformers on priority basis. He asked the department to ensure supply position of food grains and protect the rights of BPL beneficiaries. He directed the Tehsil Supply Officers to take early action for opening of newly CAPD sale outlets.
Earlier, various deputations called on the Minister and apprised him of their problems and demands as well.
A deputation of Gujjar Nagar NSUI General Secretary Prikshit Shagotra and Youth Congress leader Irfan Khan also met the Minister and informed him about the problems faced by locals of the area.
