Ashish Sharma: Karan Johar is the coolest judge on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7!

21/09/2014

In an exclusive interview with Bollywoodlife, Ashish talks about his ongoing shows, what he’d like and not like to do further and more…
Even though his daily soap Rangrasiya has gone off air, television actor Ashish Sharma has much more to look forward considering he is one of the finalists in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7. In a candid interview, Ashish tells us all about his preparations for the big day, why would he never do a show like Bigg Boss and much more…
You have come really far in the competition. How does it feel to be in the finale of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7?
I don’t know it’s kind of a mixed feeling right now. There is nervousness, anxiety and excitement all together. The preparations are going in full swing and a grand act is planned for the finale. I will be doing a fusion of freestyle and parkour and am also using a huge prop for the first time, so I am looking forward to this performance.
But were you expecting to come this far in the competition?
Seriously I never expected myself to come so far. Not because I didn’t have faith in me or something like that, it’s only that I thought I might injure myself. I actually thought I won’t survive physically.
Now when you have reached the finale, who do you think is your toughest competition amongst the remaining contestants?
Right now I think it’s Shakti (Mohan). She is an extremely good dancer and is also very popular.
So if not you, who do you think will win the show?
You know I really wanted Akshat (Singh) to win the show. He is not a trained dancer and is just a 9 year old kid. He has learned everything from TV and also the growth that he has shown throughout the season was tremendous. However, from the finalists I think Shakti can win the show, hands down. She is undoubtedly a fantastic performer.
Who according to you is the coolest judge amongst Madhuri Dixit, Remo D’souza and Karan Johar?
I think Karan (Johar) sir is the coolest guy.
He is very approachable. Actually, all of them are very approachable; but KJo is the most fun. He is also very genuine and speaks straight from the heart.
Would you want to host the next season of JDJ?
I don’t think I can do better than Manish Paul in any way. But yes, I might bring in my own style. I don’t think I can host this, but I can host a show like Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.
Will we ever see you in the Bigg Boss house?
No I don’t think so. I can’t cut off for so long. Also, I think I would be very boring on the show and wouldn’t be able to contribute anything. I am a very private person, I don’t like peeping into other people’s life and nor would I want them to peep in mine.
Are you disheartened about the premature closure of your show Rangrasiya?
Obviously I am very disheartened. It was one of my best projects that I have done so far. We were atleast expecting it to run for a year as we had that much of content for the audience. So yeah, it’s sad and feels very bad.
So what’s next for Ashish Sharma?
From here there is a long vacation, I desperately need one. I have literally broken every bone in my body, I need some time off now.
Rapid fire with Ashish Sharma…
Who do you think is the wittiest on the sets on JDJ7?
Manish Paul
Who do you think is an introvert?
Introvert it has to me, nobody else (Laughs)
Who was the hottest contestant this season?
TJ (Tara Jean Popowich)
Who do you think is a better host, Ranvir Shorey or Manish Paul?
Manish. He is very spontaneous and is not all about the script.
Do you prefer television soaps or reality shows?
I think good scripts. I enjoy acting more than anything else.
If you ever do a Bollywood film, who would you want to see as your female lead?
Anushka Sharma. I saw her in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and she was very good. I think she can pull off any role. Actually Deepika Padukone as well, she has really grown as an actress.
