Div Com reviews elections preparedness

POONCH, NOVEMBER 20: To review the preparedness for the forthcoming Assembly Elections-2014 in the district scheduled to be held on 2nd of December, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu chaired a meeting of all the nodal officers for various election related activities and officers of police and paramilitary forces here today.
Among others IGP, Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau, Dr. Baljeet Singh, District Election Officer, M H Malik, DIG, R-P Range, Ashok Kumar Attri and Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar were present in the meeting.
Addressing the participants, Divisional commissioner stressed for the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections and emphasized on the need of coordinated efforts of civil administration and paramilitary forces in ensuring security of the voter. He impressed upon all the officers present in the meeting to ensure adherence to model code of conduct.
While discussing dispatch of polling parties on poll day, Mr. Shantmanu said that all the agencies i.e. PWD, GREF and PMGSY must put on standby their men and machinery so that in the event of bad weather all roads remain clear on poll day.
While addressing the participants, IGP Jammu, Rajesh Kumar asked the Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar to prepare an area domination plan for the forces and asked for the maintenance of security of voters by deploying sufficient sections of forces at critical polling stations. He also impressed upon the SSP to ensure basic minimum facilities to all the forces and use them efficiently for area domination. He also asked him to ensure that wireless sets are fitted in all the vehicles of the zonal and sector officers. He further emphasized that all the members of polling party should travel and stay together. Besides deployment plan, police communication plan and law and order were discussed in details and necessary instructions were conveyed to the concerned. Earlier, District Election Officer, M H Malik in a power point presentation gave a detailed brief of the District Election Management Plan including communication plan, training management, material management, MCC, transport plan, SVEEP programmes and expenditure monitoring mechanism including paid news in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police J S Johar also gave a detailed presentation about security preparedness for the ensuing elections and assured a secure and enabling environment for voters. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mumtaz Ali Chowdhary, RO, Haveli, Shokat Mahmood Malik, RO, Surankote, Ashok Kumar besides officers of Paramilitary forces, Police and nodal officers attended the meeting.
