DLSA Samba organises sensitization programme on NALSA Scheme-2018, J&K Victim Compensation Scheme-2019

SAMBA, Apr 30: Under the able aegis of JK Legal Services Authority and as per the Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority, (JKLSA) for the month of April, 2024 and also under the insightful directions and supervision of Adnan Sayeed, Chair-man, District Legal Services Authority Samba, (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge Samba), District Legal Services Authority, Samba on Tuesday organized a Sensitization Programme on "NALSA (Compensation for Women Victims/survi-vors of Sexual Assault and other Crimes) Scheme," 2018 and J&K Victim Com-pensation Scheme of 2019 for the Police functionaries of the District & Legal Aid Counsels of DLSA Samba.
The Chairman District Legal Services Authority Samba was the Chief guest of the program.
In his Special address, the Chief Guest stressed upon as to how the rehabilitation of the Victims of the Sexual Assault Crime is must. He also discussed the role of Police Officers in providing initial support to the victims of crime for getting Compensation under these Schemes. He urged that all the SDPOs and SHOs of the Police Stations concerned must make it mandatory to share the copy of FIR in all the Offences covered under the above said Schemes to the office of DLSA Samba so that Victims of these crimes can get compensation in a time bound manner.
Vinay Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, in his address, explained how the Criminal Justice System has got shifted from the concept of penology to victimology and he also assured that these Schemes will be implemented in District Samba in its true spirit.
Rahul Singh Sambyal, Advocate District Court Complex, Samba, was the Resource Person who delved into the depths the provisions of both the schemes. Ms. Rekha Kapo-or Nischal presented Vote of thanks on the occasion whereas Dr. Surinder Cho-udhary, Addl. SP, Samba presented a formal welcome address. The proceedings of programme were conducted by Tania Pargal, Advo-cate District Legal Services Authority, Samba.
The programme was witnessed by SDPOs, SHOs, Incharge Police Post and Probationary Sub-Insp-ector (PSIs) Officers of LADCs Samba, Legal Aid Counsels, Staff and PLVs of DLSA Samba. A healthy interaction was also mae between the speakers and the participants so as to clear the doubts of participants. All the participants expressed immense satisfaction and being benefitted from the program and wished for more such program to be held in future.
